Kim Wade, MNCPS Acc.

Hello, I’m Kim, the founder of Clarity Counselling. Here are a few things I thought you might like to know.

My Approach & Philosophy

I believe that no matter how difficult things feel there is always a way forward, sometimes you just need a bit of support to discover it.

You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to listen and walk alongside you. There are many ways we can work together, including creative approaches, but the most important part is that you feel truly heard and never judged.

When we first meet, we will talk about what you want from your counselling, your goals, the direction you want to go in and how you want to feel.

I hold a warm, gentle space for adults navigating life transitions, with a particular heart for supporting professional women who are navigating the unsettling cognitive and emotional shifts of midlife. If your usual coping mechanisms suddenly feel unreliable and you are feeling lost in your career or daily routine, we will work together to find your bearings again.

My Story

There have been times in my own life where I have felt entirely lost, exhausted, and overwhelmed by sudden shifts in my energy and focus. I know first hand what it is like to hit an invisible wall, to feel stuck, and to feel deeply frustrated when the strategies you’ve always relied on suddenly stop working.

Starting counselling was a turning point, it gave me space to speak freely for the first time about all the thoughts and feelings I had kept buried for so long. That experience changed my life. I began to rediscover who I was. I stopped asking, “Why me?” and started to feel in control again. Life didn’t suddenly become problem free, but I was better equipped to face whatever came my way and most importantly, I was happier.

I’ve always been drawn to other people and their stories; everybody has something to share if you take the time to truly listen. Listening came naturally to me, but knowing how to respond in a way that genuinely helps someone was what led me to train as a therapeutic counsellor.

As part of that journey, I volunteered for Saint Francis Hospice as a bereavement counsellor. There I had the privilege of supporting people through their unique experiences of loss. Grief is deeply personal — there’s no right or wrong way to go through it. What helps one person may not help another, and that’s okay. My role was to be there, to listen, to understand, and to walk alongside them as they found their own path forward.

That’s what I now offer through Clarity Counselling: a confidential, compassionate space where you can speak freely about what matters to you. A space where you can be heard, where your feelings are honoured, and where we can find your way forward together.

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if I can let them be… When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying. ‘Soften the orange a bit on the right corner’. I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”
